Native Delphi Protection for .NET (NDPN) is a protection tool for Borland
Delphi for the Microsoft .NET Framework. (Only VCL Forms applications are
supported at present, but future version of NDPN will support Windows Forms
applications too).

The main function of NDPN is to produce trial versions with limited
functionality of Delphi for .NET applications, though other protection
kinds are also supported.

1. Main advantages

- use of only native (but peculiar) to Delphi for .NET means;
- no external processing of Delphi-produced executable;
- source code is temporarily modified, then after re-compiling the application
  is protected;
- the protected executable is natively compiled by Delphi for .NET
  (no compatibility problems therefore);
- the Key is not checked in any way but is used to restore the protected
  functionality;
- without correct Key events are empty (the application may be launched,
  but it will not work);
- use of proprietary technique of events initialization;
- strong (Rijndael 256 bits) encryption;
- each Key contains personal data, therefore each Key may be easily identified.

2. Description

NDPN uses its own approach to the problem of protection of Delphi for .NET
applications.

NDPN uses only NATIVE (but peculiar) TO DELPHI for .NET means, i.e. NO EXTERNAL
PROCESSING (such as packing or encryption) of Delphi-produced executable.

NDPN does not use a call of some checking routine to control execution of
the protected application. Instead NDPN MODIFIES THE SOURCE CODE in such
a manner that AFTER RE-COMPILING events of various components of the main form
are empty. To work properly the protected application needs to restore these
events.

The restoration, in turn, requires the Key (without correct Key "NDPNed"
application has EMPTY EVENTS). The protected application DOES NOT CHECK the Key
for validity, but USES it to assign proper event handlers to the corresponding
events. Needed to the assignment information is stored in the encrypted form in
the binary resource. During this assignment NDPN uses PROPRIETARY TECHNIQUE
of events initialization.

Use of STRONG ENCRYPTION ensures that without correct Key the protected
application cannot be cracked because part of the information needed to run
the application properly exists inside .EXE file only in the encrypted form.

Without correct Key the protected application will not respond to various
events - that is it will not perform any programmed in the corresponding event
handlers actions.
The application may be launched, but it will not work.

PERSONAL DATA contained IN EACH KEY allows to easily identify each produced Key.

NDPN supports protection of applications developed under Borland Delphi for
Microsoft .NET Version 7.1.1523.17956 (Update 2) (Delphi 8).
To be protected by NDPN Delphi for .NET project must contain main form with
components that have known to NDPN events.
