This is a patch that allows you to transfer files between a MS-DOS based
computer and the +3 Sinclair Spectrum, via 720K double sided double density
diskettes. The +3 Spectrum computer must have an (external) 3.5" floppy disk
drive connected. The +3 Spectrum must use the +3DOS format (not Disciple).

The disk transfer is based on 22Disk, a CP/M-to-DOS Diskette Interchange
Utility, (c) 1994 Sydex, inc.. Please note that I'm not offering a solution
for running +3 Spectrum programs on PC computers, but only a way for using PC
computers as a shortcut between the Internet Spectrum software repository and
the forgotten +3 end-user.

This package should include:
22DSK142.ZIP the CP/M-to-DOS Diskette Interchange Utility, (c) 1994 Sydex,
inc.. This is the original, unmodified shareware evaluation copy. This
shareware version has been downloaded from their site, http://www.sydex.com
CPMDISKS.DEF the disk definition file for +3 Spectrum
CPMDISKS.TXT the source text of the above
AMS1.LBL disk specification, 720K total, 256 directory entryes, 706K user free
AMS2.LBL disk specification, 720K total, 128 directory entryes, 710K user free

You must unzip all files, including the 22DSK142 files, together on a
subdirectory on your PC.
Please note that the new CPMDISKS.DEF must substitute the original definition
file from Sydex.
Then run CMENU.EXE and select 1 to set a CP/M diskette type.
I recommend you to make all further operations using cmenu.

The disks can be formatted with the built-in option of the 22Disk program or
directly on +3 Spectrum with, for example, the BG Format program. If the
diskette is already formatted with the BG Format program, you should select
the Amstrad ZX Spectrum +3 - DSDD 3.5" 720K - 710K user free diskette type
from the cmenu options. This is the recommended disk type to be used all the
time.
I also recommend you to format a diskette using the cmenu format option. This
avoid confusions, since 22Disk does not automatically recognize the existing
diskette format. The cmenu format option writes the disk specification on
track 0 sector 0 of the diskette. This information is required by +3DOS.

IMPORTANT: Do not use the program under virtual DOS machine on multitasking
operating systems (eg. OS/2). The program still works but there will result
errors on the transferred files. If you are using Windows 95, you must restart
your computer in MS-DOS mode, then run cmenu.

Try to use dedicated 720K double sided double density diskettes! Although the
1.44M high density diskettes with the HD hole covered are still good to be
used, in some cases, specially when using dedicated double density disk drive
on +3 Spectrum, you may encounter unrecoverable errors!
