This document contains information on various people you can write to, or sometimes email, for coder's and PD services such as libraries.
They are mostly PD related in subject, so if you are looking for general clubs and usergroups it would be best to look at the appropriate list. The information contained below is part of John Garners www pages.
I also have a list of programs (demos / utilities / games ), some of which I own and others that I do not although I am always looking to increase my collection. (Hint!)
I will always welcome any comments on both content and layout of these pages as long as they aren't just flaming. So "they're crap" or "delete them, my personal organiser is more useful" comments can be substituted in favour of particular constructive criticism please! Do they need more links? Is the text readable? Are the links in the wrong places? Are they pointing to the right places - do you get what you expect? I need feedback!
This list consists of the known coders and PD Libraries. But only 'known' as in known to me! So if you know of another, or indeed are another libary, I would very much like to hear from you and if you can supply me with some information on them, this would be even more useful.
Of course, if you want to look through it and can find one I haven't listed then please let me know so I can add it. I am also creating a list of upcoming (PD preferably) software projects for the Spectrum, if you are working on something email me. Unless otherwise stated, the following addresses are in England.
if you are on this list and don't already know me, you can write to me at the address which is towards the bottom of the coders list.
If the country is next to a group name, all the group come from that country (AFAIK) unless there is a specific [??] mark next to a person's name/pseudonymm, in which case only that person is from the specified country.
Comma's (,) at the end of a 'Programs:' list means I know I haven't listed it all - quite often meaning I don't know much about them, but sometimes just that I'm not bothered to find the information and write it up. Three dots (...) means I am unsure if there is any more to add, and if a question mark is also used, there may not even be any more - I know even less.
Public Domain Libraries are where the biggest collections
of PD hang-out, and you can 'order' a collection or specific
ones from these places, they are allowed to charge for costs
for repair and postage, but not to sell the actual PD itself
for profit.
Here is a list of the only ones I know of at present, please
inform me of any others you know in other countries or in
England.
What follows is a list of quite a few coding teams and people who either have been, or still are, writing things for the Spectrum.
There's always a retreat to the Spectrum Forever homepage. Take note: the order they are in is supposed to be alphabetical, but there may be one or two unintended and completely coincidental misplacements. In this list (the same for other lists in my documents), small words like "The" are placed at the end ie "The Mad Guys" would be indexed as "Mad Guys, The" (with the comma just to show you the link, it's not there in the list). Not sure if that made sense but never mind...
An index to all the groups with more information (ie groups with links) on them is also available.
